Hello from a Greek guy!
Hello there amigos!
I am sorry posting here but unfortunately i couldn't find any threads like "Introducao" or sth. Yeah i don't speak Portuguese..
My name's Nick and i come from Greece. I've been 3 months now in Lisbon and i will be staying for some more time. I am here working in a company.(you know the cause of immigrating to a foreign country i guess...). Lisbon and Portugal is fucking great!
Anyhow, enough with the introduction. I am playing the drums at a band called "The Brightly Shining Sea". We are one of the major bands in the underground scene in Greece. I don't know if you know any other bands like, Lucky Funeral, Sun of Nothing, Universe 217, National Pornographic and more. The links for my band are:
www.myspace.com/thebbsea
http://soundcloud.com/the-brightly-shining-sea
I found this forum by searching for the Russian Circles gig at music box. Cant tell you how happy i am that one of my favorite bands will be playing at the town i live. (together with maiden at Faro)
I am really looking forward to get to know the Portuguese underground music scene.

Hi Nick! The topic to introduce yourself is called "Apresentação" (presentation) and not "Introdução" (introduction):
http://www.metalunderground.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=19090
As for me, I don't know many greek underground bands, my favorite greek metal act is Septicflesh and I also enjoy Rotting Christ. I promise I'll listen to your band as soon as I'm able

Have fun around here and in our country!

Re: Hello from a Greek guy!
million thanx to everyone!
if a moderator can please move this topic to the appropriate section it would be ideal.
I actually really like Septic Flesh and Rotting Christ as i also like Moonspell.
But to tell you the truth they are not so much of underground bands. I will always enjoy them and get their new releases but for the time being i keep on investing my time in new bands having passion and the free-of-excuses creation for music. That's why i am focusing more on the underground bands.
i already asked if there's a studio i can rehearse a bit the drums and i would really like if someone could propose a cool one.
Btw. You should totally check out Sun Of Nothing. www.myspace.com/sunofnothing
I really think it's the best that Greece can give to the metal/experimental/drone/noise music. of course after "The Brightly Shining Sea"

Welcome!
Thinking of Greece, the first name that came to my mind was Nocternity. Their full length "Onyx" is great!
Portuguese bands, check also Irae, Flagellum Dei, Lux Ferre, Inverno Eterno...

Re: Hello from a Greek guy!
Nick.
Hope you like Portugal...there´s a few bands that you must listen:
Process of Guilt, they play an hybrid sound of Doom|Death with some Post-Metal inspiration, in my opinion one of the best bands now days in Portugal and Europe.
Goatfukk, a bit more aggressive and fucked sound but if you search something in the vein of bands like Ravencult (new album) with a black-punk-crust attitude this guys wins all!!
Why Angels Fall, Death-Doom with some ambient|drone influence, please check "The Unveiling" album.
The Firstborn, one of the best too..some tibetan influences in their sound but a fucking great experience, belive me.
Mao-Morta, ...well its the best portuguese rock band ever, that all!
Crushing Sun, a bit more modern sound with some new-thrash-core influences.
Dawnrider, old-school Doom, mixed with stoner , perhaps not the correct definition here, but its great too.
Painted Black, imagine a renewed Moonspell, if you like them i´m sure this one gonna fit you.
Men Eater, reminds the new Post-Sludge acts like Mastodon or Baroness with influences from Post-Rock..
Corpus Christii, Black Metal nothing more to say here.
Antichthon, Symphonic Black Metal, they look like kids but they play like mens..
Atentado and We Are The Damned, the first ones gonna crush with the new album and the others are simply one of the best bands in the scene right now.
Storm Legion, Black Metal, their last album is one of the best albuns ever made in Portugal.
....
Many more to discover in our scene, some are great, others not so great and others are pure shit...good luck dude!
Sun of Nothing?
I made a review a few years ago for "... In The Weak And The Wounded" album...

Re: Hello from a Greek guy!
If you are interested in music that aint just Metal listen to this guys:
Primitive Reason - they are a fusion between ethnic music, hardcore, ska, reggae, jazz, rapcore, nu-metal, folk etcccc. But they´re much more then a fusion band, their sound is unique. Very intelligent lyrics too.
As zyk said, you totally should look forward to listen to: Process of guilt (best Post doom shit i´ve heard lately), The firstborn, Men Eater. And also the last Crushing Sun record which is fucking great.
GREAT post rock, following acts like Mono and Explosions in the sky: How Comes The Constellations Shine, they were great.
Other great Post rock act - Riding Panico
Fucked up rock&blues: Legendary tigerman, Wraygun, Born a lion (a bit more stoner/black sabath approach)
doom/drone - lobo
Thashy/groove/death metal - Painstruck, and can also try 1st W.a.k.o. album but i dont promise anything.
Hardcore - For the Glory, Devil in me, Death will come, Not without fighting
Punk Rock - Decreto77 , Piss!
Crusty stuff - Simbiose, gatos pingados, Mr. Miyagi
Doom/death - Mourning Lenore
(Atmospheric) Black Metal - Pestilencia, Alchemist
Something like nine inch nails - Hattemachin*
indie rock from the school of Sonic Youth - Linda Martini, Amarionette
Ska/reagge/ethnic whatever - Kumpania Algazarra
Might also wanna check - Paus
BTW, liked you´re band
