Watching THE OCEAN perform live is a unique experience in which music and visuals contribute to an atmosphere that makes it easy for the listener to get lost in the dismal oceanic spheres.
THE OCEAN was originally founded in 2001 when lead guitarist Robin Staps developed a huge underground studio complex where numerous musicians from classical and rock music backgrounds would conceptualize it. Despite initial hardships and the ever-changing lineup, this collective has released four critically acclaimed studio albums that have spread like wildfire in the realms of modern heavy music.
After hundreds of shows all over the world, the addition of vocalist Loic Rossetti has now transformed THE OCEAN from a collective into a band. In spite of this major modification on their concept, their latest album "Heliocentric" features the largest number of additional classical musicians to date. Recently released through Metal Blade Records, "Heliocentric" discusses the idea that the earth revolves around the sun and that the sun is stationary and at the center of the universe. The effects that this discovery had on Christian belief and occidental culture are at the base of the entire musical, lyrical and visual artwork of the album.
The opening of this exclusive live music session at Porto-Rio features CRUSHING SUN and the introduction of their novel album “Tao” to the audience.
