Bem.. é uma opinião
Encontrei esta review. A primeira ao album.
Okay album, weak band. - 60%

You must hear this album just for the spoken word rant at the start, it's the most ridiculous and hilarious thing I've heard in a while. It revolves around what I assume is Kvarforth whining about how his brand of "suicide metal" has become a trend despite the fact that he's been playing it for a decade and is still alive to bitch about it. It has unintentional extra hilarity because with the way he speaks -- in spitting words out in a desperate attempt to come across as malevolent he sounds much like Dave Mustaine on Sweating Bullets and I'm sure his suicidal "conditions" are about as real as the lyrics of that song.
"And what is with you fucking morons dissin' men like Eminem and Manson? WHY? Is that jealousy due to the fact that they're bringing this shit to the masses without pretentions for style? I mean, at least in their case the audience reflects the artist."
What the fuck sort of fans does he expect to gain when Shining has some of the most ridiculous lyrics in metal? Stupid fatalist rubbish seemingly written by a 13 year old goth. It's an ill-considered and juveline image for juveline people, don't get delusions of grandeur. Oh, and the speech track is part of the first song, so you can't even skip past it in your CD player. Joy.
As for the music, it's pretty much more of the same as with other Shining albums -- long songs, draining and vaguely doomish slow riffs, Hellhammer for once drumming reasonably slowly while still showing off his precision, nice rasped vocals unlike the pitiful lamenting screams of similar acts. Musically, it's perfectly solid but everything else about this band strives to make you not take them seriously at all. And for a band focusing on negative emotion, that is a real killer, it makes you want to laugh at them rather than join them in their constantly-delayed journey into the afterlife. Track five 'The Eerie Cold' hammers this in with a nice repetetive interlude, but wait! A sample of some guy pretending to cry over how bad everything is possibly before he kills himself. But as with everything to do with Shining -- it's only pretend, nothing more. The score is based on the music which is adequate but we've already had three albums of this before without much progression.
Concerning your lyrics, they are as always very depressive and suicidal. Why? And what's your own position towards suicide and self-mutilation?
"They are all a part of the wider concept, myself being very fascinated by suicide, self-mutilation and other forms of abuse, one could almost call it an fixation, Also, I feel that these particular topics are great in use of manipulating the listener as SHINING is based around fully realistic subjects, and not the ordinary forest-demon-battle-shit. The listener can most likely recognise himself/herself in the lyrics thereby hopefully following the code of correct decisions. Even though it would never be a possibility, the highest goal must be to have all our listeners mutilating themselves under the influence of our works, preferably fucking up the other relevant parts of their lives as well…
Honestly, do you think you will commit suicide some day? If yes, what way will you choose? If not, in which way would you enjoy dying?
"The will to end my life passes through me every day, though I must act as the emissary, thereby my death would mean failure and I must say it can be quite thrilling experimenting on basics on how bad a human being really can feel before completely vanishing in madness… I have always been childishly interested in the rope. Enjoy dying? It might be comfortable at the time present, however, I wish my death to be truly unpleasant… "
