Fripp Announces King Crimson Are Back!

In a move that has sent prog fans around the world into a slathering mass of excitement, Robert Fripp appears to have announced the resurrection of prog legends King Crimson.

Today Fripp updated his online diary for 6th September.

Fripp writes: ”This is a very different reformation to what has gone before: seven players, four English and three American, with three drummers. The Seven-Headed Beast of Crim is in Go! mode.”

So far the only publicly confirmed member is drummer/guitarist, Bill Rieflin (ex-Ministry, REM) who Fripp has previously played with on 1999‘s The Repercussions Of Angelic Behaviour (alongside Trey Gunn). However, it’s possible to surmise from Fripp’s Sept 5th diary entry, that long-term bassist Tony Levin is also in Crim Go! mode as well.

Prog‘s reisdent Crimson expert Sid Smith commented: “You can never say never when it comes to Crimson and Robert Fripp. Many people assumed that after the last time the band played live in 2008 that Crimson would never play again. Certainly Fripp has documented many times on his diary the problems from within the music industry that have kept his attention away from playing music. Now those problems are in the process of being resolved it seems Robert is ready to strap on his guitar and make a racket, which sounds like good news to me!”
