Swedish/German extreme metallers ARCH ENEMY will release a new album, "The Root Of All Evil", on September 28 in Europe and October 6 in North America via Century Media Records. This special collection features re-recorded versions of songs from the band's first three LPs — "Black Earth" (1996), "Stigmata" (1998) and "Burning Bridges" (1999). Acclaimed British producer Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, EXODUS) mixed and mastered the CD, which was recorded at a few different locations in Sweden and produced by ARCH ENEMY with Daniel Erlandsson and Rickard Bengtsson handling the engineering.

Commented guitarist Michael Amott: "This one took some time to get done, despite the fact that the actual songs were already written a good few years ago! The album was recorded at a few different locations locally here in Sweden — produced by ARCH ENEMY, with Daniel Erlandsson (drums) handling a lot of the engineering. It was then sent to Andy Sneap in England for the mixing/mastering and I simply can't stop listening to this since I got the final mixes!"

Amott continued: "We basically headed down to our rehearsal studio, got reacquainted with the tunes, picked out our favorites and proceeded to give a breath of new life to those early songs, with the idea to have the possibility to re-add them to the live set and follow up with some touring activity!

"I'm loving hearing these songs with a fresh new sound and performance. Everyone in the band did a killer job on it — especially Angela's [Gossow] vocal performance is astoundingly intense and brutal and it was also cool to hear Sharlee [D'Angelo] lay down some great bass tracks on the early songs! The production and mix is crushing and heavy as hell — it really makes these old songs shine. It sounds like a brand new thing!"

“Time” elege Jimi Hendrix como o melhor guitarrista de sempre

O crítico da revista “Time”, Josh Tyrangiel, elaborou uma lista dos melhores guitarristas de todos os tempos, encabeçada por Jimi Hendrix. O músico superou outros guitarristas como Slash, B.B. King e Eric Clapton.

Este ranking refere-se apenas à mestria na guitarra eléctrica, com o pódio a ser composto por Jimi Hendrix (ouro), Slash (prata) e B.B. King (bronze). Tyrangiel, que propôs esta lista, justifica a escolha de Hendrix dizendo que “nunca ninguém combinou numa guitarra o blues, o rock e o psicadelismo com tanta facilidade e carisma como Hendrix”, impondo-se, segundo o crítico, a artistas de todas as épocas e géneros.

Integram também a lista nomes como Keith Richards (dos Rolling Stones), Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page (dos Led Zeppelin), Chuck Berry ou Les Paul. Ainda assim, a “Time” reserva ainda um lugar adicional além deste top 10 para incluir Johnny Ramone.

As previously reported, OZZY OSBOURNE performed on Saturday, August 22nd at the Anaheim Convention Center as part of the closing ceremonies at BlizzCon '09. However, Due to Zakk Wylde's current touring commitments with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and Mike Bordin's ongoing reunion tour with FAITH NO MORE, Ozzy tapped FIREWIND guitarist Gus G and drummer Tommy Clueftos for this special performance. They were joined by current Osbourne band members Blasko (bass) and Adam Wakeman (keyboards). Check out the footage below.
KEEP OF KALESSIN :
Epic Norwegian black metallers KEEP OF KALESSIN are currently working on the follow up to their 2008 release Kolossus. After several successful tours in N. America with such bands as DIMMU BORGIR, BEHEMOTH, KATAKLYSM and DYING FETUS, the members are eager to write an album which according to them is “stronger, heavier, more brutal and yet more beautiful at the same time.” During the pre-production and recording stages of their yet to be titled release, the band will upload footage from the sessions on their official YouTube channel. Guitarist Obsidian C. offered the following update
“Right now we’re in the pre-production stage of the new album and we’re finally home long enough to only focus on getting all the material to the level it should be. We’ll work in our studio in Trondheim with test-recording and making new songs all until October, when we head to Sweden and Dug Out Studio with Daniel Bergstrand (IN FLAMES, BEHEMOTH, MESHUGGAH) to record the drums. Then we’ll head back to our own studio, where we recorded both Armada and Kolossus, to record all the other instruments and vocals before we ship it over to Daniel again for the mix.”

Não sei porquê mas cheira-me a borrada. A Angela a cantar as músicas antigas... hmmm. Lembro-me de ver um vídeo da The Immortal cantada por ela e estava mesmo muito má. Mas venha o Cd que irei ouvir na mesma claro, a curiosidade é grande.
