Metal Samsara (Brasil) - Marcos Garcia (9/10)
http://metalsamsara.blogspot.pt/2012/06 ... or-cd.html

Metal Maniacs Zine (Brasil) - Paulo Henrique (10/10)
http://metalmaniacszine.blogspot.pt/201 ... error.html

Behind the Veil (Grécia) - Nick "Verkaim" Parastatidis (7,5/10)

With such a name I think it is difficult to avoid playing thrash metal and that’s exactly the kind of music that these guys from Portugal are playing.

It is really very pleasant to see thrash metal bands to pop out from every corner of the world and especially when they have something to give musically to the audience. I think that the description that fits to the sound of TERROR EMPIRE is modern thrash metal since they are closer to the way that this sound was transformed in the mid to late 90’s. If I have to compare them or say which their influences are, then I would say that they build their sound on two colossal pillars that answer to the names SEPULTURA and SLAYER. Also I have to notice that their music sounds technical and yet has this immediacy that makes it catchy and memorable. All the songs here are very good and I think that if you are a fan of SLAYPULTURA and THE HAUNTED, then you have to give them a chance.

LAST ... FIRE ... LAST FIRE !

Nova review do outro lado do Atlântico (Mondo Metal - 9/10 - Christiano Gomes):

Face the Terror é surpreendente!

Metal Wani - http://www.metalwani.com/2012/07/review ... error.html
Owais 'Vitek' Wani
9.5/10

It's always exciting to be introduced to new bands, especially after years of listening to Metal, when you may be tempted to feel like you've seen and heard it all. There are many metalheads out there who say the last of the great Thrash bands died out in the 80's and early 90's. Those that claim this have clearly not heard of Terror Empire, who, with this release, show that Thrash is still a viable force in metal. After listening to this record, one thing is clear, the band's main focus has always been to produce a traditional "thrash metal sound" with traces of what has been part of the modern metal sound, such as odd time signatures, breakdowns and a bit of groove. Simply put, the band may be disguised as Groove/Thrash, but make no mistake, this album is 100% pure aggressive, in-your-face traditional Thrash blended with modern elements at its absolute very best. Sure, it doesn't sound like Overkill or Slayer, but that differentiation from the usual sound that thrash bands are associated with helps give this band an identity of their own.

The name "Terror Empire" represents an omnipresent reality that has been exposed worldwide since the 9/11 attacks. Since then, there has been official and paranoid propaganda in order to stifle and deprive all human beings from their individual rights, so they can be subdued to the ever-present feeling of terror.

One thing which I really like about the band is the ability to mix the basic elements of moderate to high speed thrash with beefed-up drumming to modernize the genre's sound, achieving a welcome robustness. Ricardo Martins vocals are spit out with appropriate venom, and on guitars the tandem of Rui Alexandre and Sergio Alves deliver controlled speed, energetic strumming and spectacular solos. With Rui Puga on bass and Gonçalo Marques drum set establishes the foundation with a satisfying bass-heavy emphasis.

To be honest there really isn’t much point in analyzing each song and sorting them out since each and every track from the album leaves the listener with a wholly unique vibe and you end up with an ubiquitous feeling of terror. Out of six tracks, there is no temps' mort and the whole selection is insane as hell right from the beginning - from the super insane groovy opening song "Dirty Bomb" to the closing with the infectious "Last Fire".

Simply put, this is a phenomenal sounding metal record. Yes, there are a lot of those around but for some reason this one sticks out for me. In addition to that, their sound deftly blends old school influences like Exodus and Testament with modernized sound that doesn't sound out of place when in the company of bands like Unearth or Shadows Fall. All this while sounding distinctly like themselves. They bring the old school to the present and make it sound like the new school.

To conclude, the Portugal metal masters, Terror Empire's New Album, “Face the Terror” is one of the best thrash albums I have heard in this year and I have to be very honest when I say that bands are going to have to come up with something pretty special to beat this gem. This is the truth of the matter, because all of their tracks are fucking awesome; the absolute epitome of what Thrash can be. I hope they wreak the rewards of it.

Bottom Line: ALL KILLER, NO FILLER ----- THRASH ------ 6 Crazy SONGS, 68 Insane RIFFS & 24 Fucking SOLOS \m/

http://www.globalthrashassault.net/2012 ... mpire.html

Join The TERROR EMPIRE!
There's a lot to love about the Portuguese thrashers known as Terror Empire, and there's no better proof of this then the bands recently released debut album Face The Terror. Featuring six tracks and coming in at nearly thirty minutes Face The Terror is jam packed with greatness, originality and relevance. With a high caliber of musicianship Terror Empire prove there are still plenty of riffs that haven't been written and there are plenty of things still left to be said, especially about the times we live in. With pure anger and aggression this five piece grabs hold of your attention and never lets it go.

Lyrics about corrupt politics and government propaganda can be heard throughout Face The Terror and they're hard to ignore, especially when they're delivered using death metal like vocals that redefine the word brutal. However lyrics aren't the only thing that are hard to ignore about Terror Empire, the bands music is like nothing heard before, to call it anything other than unique would be the understatement of the century and downright insulting. The fact is Terror Empire is a long overdue breath of fresh air for the thrash genre. The band takes the elements of traditional thrash and mixes them together with modern elements such as breakdowns, odd time signatures and tons of groove with the end result being one hell of an album and one very sore neck! Face The Terror is laced with riffs designed to inflict bodily injury while leaving a permanent smile plastered to your face. Fantastic riffs aren't the only thing Terror Empire are good for though, throughout their entire debut album the band executes brutal drumming riddled with impressive foot work and kick ass fills and just when you think things can't get any better lightning fast solos will literally set fire not only to your speakers but your brain as well leaving you crippled, broken and loving life.

The bottom line here is simple, everything about Terror Empire will put a smile on your face, simply put metal doesn't get much better than this.

OVERALL: 100/100

If you're looking to get your face caved in then do yourself a favor and head on over to the official Terror Empire website and download Face The Terror! To stay up to date with the bands activities you can follow the band on Facebook as well!

Ainda vão saíndo reviews ao "Face The Terror" (também aguardamos pelas vossas, pessoal ;) ):

http://www.metal-observer.com/raq.php?lid=1

The Metal Observer (8*/10)

* 8 - Start counting your pennies...

With all of the ‘retro’ Thrash acts crawling out of the woodwork to stake their claim to the ‘true’ sound of the genre, it’s nice to know that someone like TERROR EMPIRE is not overlooking the modern edges. These Portuguese Metal maniacs deliver just that on their debut “Face The Terror” with a very spirited approach to the focus, punching through with enough modern influenced Groove, Hardcore barking, and ferocious Thrash that it’s hard not to get into the energetic outpour.

Although the album runs a little loose around the edges and finds itself meandering in some of the tightness of its writing, TERROR EMPIRE strike out some impressive moments worthy of the listen. “Face The Terror” is the kind of record that wears many of its influential sounds on its sleeve, but the vigor that the band attacks their musical sound is something to be impressed by. It’s punctual and aggressive with its jabbed tracks and it utilizes many of the deviations from its foundation as small flavors to the overall modern Thrash core. It is a nice balance that may not draw a lot of new listeners, but will make those listening to stand up and take notice.

“Face The Terror” goes right at the heart of it very quickly too. After a rather standard modern Thrasher like “The Brave”, TERROR EMPIRE starts moving. “Dirty Bomb” kicks off with a swaggering Groove riff before its cannibalized by a SLAYER inspired screaming lead/solo. The double bass kicks in for an almost Death Metal flurried portion at times and the “Last Fire” carries a significant “Code Red” era SODOM sound to his snarling vocals that pop from the vocalist’s more general barking roar. The band smoothly moves through their deviations on their modern Thrash sound with relatively little effort and it makes the already short release fly by.

Sometimes the relative consistency of “Face The Terror” lends itself to blending tracks together, but the energetic outpour and aggressive approach to their sound make up for a lot of missing dynamics. It also helps when the release is fairly short too as it doesn’t have time to become overly redundant.

TERROR EMPIRE push through for an impressive debut. “Face The Terror” is a quick jab of solidified modern Thrash with just enough teasers of deviation to keep one moshing with the ambitious energy. This isn’t the record that will skyrocket them out of the underground status, but it’s a damn fine starting point.
