Portugal comes to us from the project Angrenost with the debut album 'Planet Muscaria' .
Formed in 1995 by the will of the leader Pursan and Ainvar , the Angrenost publish the Ep 'Evil' in 1997 for Andromeda Creations collecting positive opinions from the public, but the following year the head of the project, Pursan, leave everything and falls into a vortex of mental desolation rising to extreme conditions due to drug abuse, psychotic devastation, use of acids and withdrawing into self-destructive halo that will lead to psychiatric hospitals to clinics of detoxification.
Been twelve years since that dark period Pursan shooting back on their way again and puts in motion the Angrenost, accompanied by Erdsaf (bass and drums) and E. (guitars).
On 23 September he was given to the press by Code666 this 'Planet Muscaria' , based, thematically speaking, right on the dark and bloody period of the vocalist. That the term "Muscaria" is to associate all ' Amanita muscaria (hallucinogenic mushroom used in shamanic rituals) we can not know this, though you might guess, but the fact is that Our work have created a truly disturbing, terribly dark and tragically engaging, as well as attractive.
'Infern (O)' opens the disc with a setting so bleak that will make you feel uncomfortable. It 's just an intro, but already beginning to prepare the listener for what is to come later with the first actual track 'acIdShIVa' : with a blend of old-school black metal vein enriched with a more modern and technological, emanating from electric shock glacial and perverse.
All disc moves on these lines, creating a sound very cold and sharp, as sharp blades leveled against the auditory system, enhanced by a wraparound groove bottom and gloomy.
Listening arises with a certain verve "cosmic" and powerful catapulting from tiratissime outbursts moments to ambient sulfur and cadenzamenti enthralling. The band has a clear idea in your head and the offers with great attitude, adequate preparation and a desire to have their say. Although many of the black metal purists, the term "technology" does turn up their nose, I can assure you, that as a listener of this genre, you will not be disappointed at all, in fact.
Going from 'SaTaNIOgOS' , containing also a kind of "rides" alternating openings noiseggianti and 'ajNagraMMaTON' piece containing a high dose of electronic influences with a heavy dose of synth in mind but never too pushy, you faces a "journey" mental scoinvolgente and arrives at the closing track.
The final ') O (NrefNI' is a logical continuation of the introductory track, worthy of the best situations to embarrass horrorifiche and marches.
Summing up, a job well done and a good food for friends of those who seek extremes sound well planned, though nothing completely new.
Definitely suitable for an audience with a strong "resistance" hearing, given the long duration of the pieces that varies from about 8 minutes to a little more than 10, to the exclusion of 'ScOrpIOSaUrUS' , juncture "technologically" ambient lasting about 4 minutes.
Do not become fixated exclusively with the old school black metal thin and stagnant, look over and ascoltatevi 'Planet Muscaria' , I'm sure you'll be charmed and tragically affected.
