Hoje em dia o obscuro e o oldschool estão mais acessíveis que nunca! mas não invalida que a vontade de ouvir não seja louvável!

mas eu continuo-me a "chocar" com pessoal que não liga nada ao heavy-metal mais antigo!

Tens razão, má escolha de palavras... Não há nenhuma banda de power metal hoje em dia que se sobreponha a Manowar... Bom excepto estes dois últimos álbuns. Ok, não , este último álbum é mau. Há coisas que são infinitamente melhores que este último álbum... (Excepto Dragonforce :mrgreen:)

Por sua vez, NADA bate o Hail to England e o Sign of The Hammer e essencialmente o melhor álbum de Power Metal de Sempre... o Triumph of Steel :metal:

:arrow: Pra mim o factor idade, é só a questão de amadurecimento e maior controlo pessoal em vários aspectos. Há gente q abre os olhos e os ouvidos. Outros q depois relembram o passado com nostalgia. Mas acho ñ tem nada a ver com a cena Old School ou comparações do género. Tem mais a vêr com momentos da vida e indirectamente com certos gostos musicais. Isto na minha opinião claro.
Tenho quase 27 anos...
Continuo a ouvir coisas de anos 20, 60, 70 , e 80 como da actualidade. No entanto filtro muita coisa.
Nos "filtros" pessoais é q está a diferença...e q é q isso tem de mal? Acho q nada....
Cada cabeça sua sentença!


Agora q há bandas antigas e novas q ñ tocam e muita gente venera, isso já se sabe e vai ser sempre assim logo ñ vejo aqui o dilema.

Criei este tópico porque mesmo com 30, 40 ou 50 anos ainda me vejo a ouvir sub-generos como power, death ou black... acho que é tudo uma questão de auto-estima...

Obviamente que não se reduz a esta linearidade, mas se no início dedicava-me exclusivamente ao metal tradicional (Maiden, Helloween, Metal Church, depois Overkill, Testament, depois passei para coisas mais pesadas, Kreator, Entombed, At The Gates, Pestilence. Quando me apresentaram os Tool fiquei logo fã até hoje... Ultimamente tenho ouvido muito Katatonia e Opeth e bandas de extreme prog metal: Farmakon, Theory in Practice, Spiral Architect...

E dei por mim ouvir Devildriver :shock:

Eu odeio dragonforce...e gosto de power metal :X o que me leva a concluir que Dragonforce é algo transcendente ao power metal lol

A eterna questão das palas, não é?...

Não percebo... nem hoje, nem ontem. E nem amanhã, provavelmente.

Eu acho que tudo depende da forma como encaramos a música, em geral, e o HEAVY METAL em particular. Existe uma razão muito forte (quase uma possessão demoníaca, como diria o Mestre Bthzr) para tudo aquilo que eu ouço. Foi assim que eu comecei a ouvir música a sério e é assim que vai ser até ao fim.

O diabox falou aqui da relutância do pessoal da Velha Guarda em ouvir coisas novas... Se calhar até tens alguma razão. Mas isso depende de que coisas novas está a falar. Para mim a novidade pela novidade é caca, não vale um peido de rã. Tem tudo a ver com sentimento e com o local para onde a música nos leva. E se não nos leva a lado nenhum, não vale a pena perder tempo.

Mas não deixo de reparar que aqui no MU existe muito mais o lado oposto. Vejo muito gente aqui a fazer alarde de um suposto ecletismo musical. Até aí tudo bem... cada um sabe de si. Mas normalmente essa sofisticação auditiva vem sempre acompanhada das bordoadas do costume - a morte do HEAVY METAL. Desde que comecei a ouvir música a sério que os pseudo-profetas da treta (também conhecidos como imprensa especializada) anunciam aos 4 ventos a morte do Heavy Metal. Já lá vão uns aninhos e continuo a descobrir bandas novas INFINITAMENTE melhores do que muito daquilo que beneficia da (sobre)exposição mediática. E se por acaso estivessem interessados, certamente também não teriam dificuldade em encontrá-las.

Agora o que me faz confusão é a substituição em si. Lá por ouvir coisas novas, isso vai obrigar-me a deixar de ouvir aquilo que ouvia há 17/18 anos? Mas porquê?!?... Aquilo que eu gostava no início gosto agora com a mesma (ou mais) devoção.

A propósito disto, Markus Grosskopf dizia:

E é precisamente isso que não compreendo - se surge outra coisa qualquer, podemos gostar dela ou não, mas se gostarmos não temos obrigatoriamente que deitar fora as coisas com as quais crescemos. Nunca compreendi isso. Mesmo que gosto de ouvir o «Figure Number Five» - um disco que adoro - não vou deitar fora os meus álbuns dos Judas Priest, apenas porque agora gosto de outra coisa e sou obrigado a odiar aquilo que gostava antes

Eu não gosto nada de Soilwork mas a ideia é essa.

E em relação ao Manowar, nem sequer sabia que existiam outras bandas que se lhes pudessem comparar (à excepção de Virgin Steele, Manilla Road & ost Horizon, talvez).

Em suma, detesto modernices, continuo a devorar Metal (antigo ou novo) com o mesmo apetite e sou apologista do verdadeiro Heavy Metal. Por outro lado, os Ashram são uma das minhas bandas favoritas, fui de propósito a Copenhaga ver Pain of Salvation, estou sempre na primeira fila para ver a Diamanda e estou farto de estar à espera da continuação d'«O Anel» no S. Carlos.

Há espaço para tudo.....................

no geral não tenho nada contra o teu post Rat... mas os pontos de vista que apresentaste são na sua totalidade referencias ao Heavy metal

e isso parece-me que está de acordo com o que o SoD referiu no post inicial... por isso fica a minha curiosidade... o que é que achas das outras sonoridades que foram aparecendo depois do heavy metal (thrash, death, black, etc...).

Já deu para perceber que a maior parte do pessoal mais velhote não se fecha nos estilos mais tradicionais e não tem "medo" ou preconceito de ouvir coisas mais pesadas ou barulhentas ou mesmo (deus me perdoe) menos metal!

gostava de ler o teu ponto de vista sobre esses outros géneros "mais recentes"

Heavy metal is one of the newer genres of music. Most experts put its beginnings in the late '60s and early '70s. Since that beginning, metal has grown and evolved, spawning a multitude of genres and subgenres. In the '80s some heavy metal became mainstream, but throughout the years it been mainly an underground phenomenon. Even though most people have heard of Def Leppard or Judas Priest, the huge majority of metal bands are unknown to the mainstream. Here's a heavy metal timeline:

Late 1960's - Early 1970's
The birth of heavy metal. Groups like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple were the first heavy metal bands.

Late 1970's
The rise of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NHOBHM). Bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest become very popular.

1978
Van Halen released their debut album. This began the Los Angeles/Sunset Strip scene, and many bands would come out of this era, including Motley Crue and Quiet Riot. The so called "hair bands" like Poison, Warrant and Ratt came from that scene as well.
The Who's Keith Moon died.

Bands formed this year: Dokken, Ratt, Whitesnake

1979
The German band Accept releases their self-titled debut album. They are considered to be the first European power metal band.

Está tudo dentro do HEAVY METAL!

- Um dos melhores concertos que vi até hoje foi de Deströyer 666, em Pedrulha.
- Tenho acompanhado os Amon Amarth desde o MCD.
- A minha banda favorita de Thrash é Anacrusis.
- Ainda não perdi a esperança de ver Absu ao vivo.

Não gosto de Opeth, por exemplo - acho muito frio... e ao vivo, então... Mas o aquecimento foi bom:

Heavy metal is one of the newer genres of music. Most experts put its beginnings in the late '60s and early '70s. Since that beginning, metal has grown and evolved, spawning a multitude of genres and subgenres. In the '80s some heavy metal became mainstream, but throughout the years it been mainly an underground phenomenon. Even though most people have heard of Def Leppard or Judas Priest, the huge majority of metal bands are unknown to the mainstream. Here's a heavy metal timeline:

Late 1960's - Early 1970's
The birth of heavy metal. Groups like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple were the first heavy metal bands.

Late 1970's
The rise of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NHOBHM). Bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest become very popular.

1978
Van Halen released their debut album. This began the Los Angeles/Sunset Strip scene, and many bands would come out of this era, including Motley Crue and Quiet Riot. The so called "hair bands" like Poison, Warrant and Ratt came from that scene as well.
The Who's Keith Moon died.

Bands formed this year: Dokken, Ratt, Whitesnake

1979
The German band Accept releases their self-titled debut album. They are considered to be the first European power metal band.
