WEB "World Wild Web" CD 2005 (Independant Records)
If you like good old school speed/thrash metal like in the mid 80's like Heathen, Exodus, Atrophy, Testament...this is about to be your treat....We are right back in San francisco in 1987 and assisting to a gig with TESTAMENT, ATROPHY, PILE DRIVER and HEATHEN at the Pound SF...and as guest surprise, WEB playing in there? Can ROO believe it??? That would be BERRY GOOD!!!!!But let's get the daft mind aside and concentrate on WEB.....the breaks, the acoustics, the vocals and the variety of rhythms you can find on this album, from the semi-ballads to the aggressive metal tunes arevery cleverly worked through and through. Take the example of the slow, funeral...even depressive down tempo "Invocation" that sounds like the perfect soundtrack to a funeral procession...but not just a funeral...the WORLD'S FUNERAL, the funeral of the entire mankind...so grandiose these megalithic structures....in contrast comes the "tout a dingue" "Strong winds, Strong Waves", which is completely going berserk, giving the perfect picture of what a storm on the sea is....What happened this winter on the DEVON and CORWALL shores are strong enough to illustrate that song in a video clip. I would see WEB doing their videoclip for this song somehere in Dawlish, which is just a few miles away from EXETER on a night with strong gales....Just imagine these waves splashing onto oncoming trains and making them derail....No more words, this album is a GEM, a perfect must have for everyone who loves BAY AREA thrash metal...as it takes this style to further dimensions!. On the passage, please note the fabulous production signed Luis Barros (Tarantula) at Rec'n'Roll studio, Valadares, Portugal and mastered at world famous Area 51, Hannover, Germany.
