TEXTURES – Singer leaves the band

Singer Eric Kalsbeek has left TEXTURES to focus on his job and his family. He's issued the following statement:

"Dear fans & friends, I decided to quit Textures. My life changed, priorities shifted. I can't cope with the heavy touring and the time investment anymore. I need to focus on my job and family. I need to take a few steps back. I've had six beautiful years with the band, did loads of amazing shows, made tons of new friends and
created some mind-blowing music. I'm going to miss the guys, and of course you, the fans. I know TEXTURES will continue to conquer the world and give you all great, heavy and awesome music. I wish my successor all the best.
I will keep on making music, but something totally different, much more low-profile. Maybe we will meet again. Eric out"

"We are currently auditioning a possible replacement singer and hope to announce him in the coming months. We will miss Eric a lot.. We had the greatest times together and these will live on in eternity.. Eric, you rock!!!!"

Due to Eric leaving TEXTURES the release date for the follow up of "Silhouettes" has been pushed back to the beginning of 2011.

Joe Ptacek, best known for his work as the lead singer of death metal outfit Broken Hope, sadly passed away on Wednesday from what appears to be a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the head. He was only thirty seven years old. A message from his former bandmate Jeremy Wagner reads as follows:

"It's with profound sadness and shock that [I report that] my friend and former bandmate — Joe Ptacek — has died.

"Joe was my high-school friend who formed a death-metal band with me called Broken Hope. We always dreamed of putting out albums and touring the world. After graduating, we achieved a lot of those dreams and released five albums, performed worldwide, appeared in countless international magazines and did a video for MTV. We were on Metal Blade Records and met all of our heroes and performed everywhere…

"Not bad for two teenagers out of Wildwood, Illinois.

"After 2000, Joe and I lost touch until just a few years ago. In recent months, we reconnected, hung out and became friends again. I just chatted with him after the New Year as he and I had found a drummer and a rehearsal spot where we were to begin working to bring back a new, resurrected form of Broken Hope.

"As of late, Joe was positive, healthy and had a mature and humble attitude that made me happy to see.

"I'm thankful to have known him in my lifetime and to have traveled many a mile and share many a stage with such an original character. Moreover, I'm thankful to have hugged him and to have made him smile the last time we were together. Why he chose to take his life, I'll never even begin to fathom, but I pray he's in a better place.

"So, to all of you extreme metal heads out there, I ask you to raise a toast in memory of Joe Ptacek, the absolute, hands down MOST BRUTAL DEATH-METAL VOCALIST EVER!

"Joe, I love you and I will miss you, brother…

Espero bem que o que ai venha esteja ao nivel do que saiu em 2005, acredito que sim tendo em conta quem faz parte da banda

A banda formada por Shagrath, vocalista de Dimmu Borgir, e King, ex- baixista de GORGOROTH, terminou a gravação do seu primeiro álbum, intitulado "The Underworld Regime", cujo lançamento está previsto para 8 de Fevereiro de 2010 pela Indie Recordings.

O CD foi gravado no Earshot Studio e conta com Shagrath nos vocais, King no baixo, Frost (Satyricon) na bateria, Ice Dale (Enslaved) na guitarra e Teloch (Nidingr, Godseed) na guitarra. A produção ficou por conta de Herbrand Larsen e o disco foi masterizado nos estúdios Livingroom por Espen Berg e Shagrath em novembro deste ano. King compôs todas as músicas enquanto Shagrath escreveu todas as letras, contando com contribuições de Silenoz e Sarah Owens.
