Legendary guitarist Jeff Loomis has been in the studio the last few months working on his highly anticipated sophomore solo album, to be released later this year. Since entering the studio, Loomis has revealed a number of notable guests that will be appearing on the release and now, Loomis announces the newest special guest: Ihsahn, formerly of Norwegian black metal band Emperor and current solo artist.

Jeff Loomis updates: "I know most of you are aware that Christine Rhoades is doing some vocals on my album. At first I thought she'd be the only guest singer on the record but then this one song started coming together, it's pretty brutal. I've always wanted to do really, really heavy music and after hearing this, both Aaron and myself thought we needed some crazy, sick singer on it. We just sat around tossing names out for a bit, nothing really was sticking and then Aaron says, 'I got it... Ihsahn' and it was one of those moments where you knew that was the answer all along, it just hadn't been unlocked in your mind yet. Anyway, a few short emails back and forth and we had his vocal track in. It came out amazing. I can't wait for you to hear it. Ihsahn, thanks again, it's an honor to have you on my record."

The new album will be produced by Aaron Smith (7 Horns 7 Eyes), and fans should keep their eyes peeled for previews of developing songs, studio updates and additional details.

The founding member of the influential New York heavy metal band Riot, Mark Reale was their only constant member from 1975 until his death in 2012.

Reale suffered Crohn's disease for much of his life, and was hospitalised in San Antonio, Texas on January 13th, 2012 in critical condition due to complications. Lapsing into a coma after suffering a subarachnoid hemorrhage, he did not recover, and passed away on January 25th.

IHSAHN To Guest On Ex-NEVERMORE Guitarist's New Solo Album

Former EMPEROR frontman Ihsahn (real name: Vegard Sverre Tveitan) will make a guest appearance on the sophomore solo album from ex-NEVERMORE guitarist Jeff Loomis. The CD, which is being produced by Aaron Smith (7 HORNS 7 EYES), is scheduled for release later in the year via Century Media Records.

Most of you are certainly aware that 2 ex D.ISEMBOWELMENT members have formed D.USK about one year and a half ago and will play several dates in Europe this year -including ROADBURN, HELLFEST + one date in Finland and England...
The guys have recently announced that these gigs will be their last as DUSK (which is a kind of tribute to their cult old band), but now the great news is that they have quite many new songs and will continue under the new name of INVERLOCH !!!
The band INVERLOCH has been signed logically by RELAPSE and their debut mini-album "Dusk...Subside" will be released this spring on CD/LP/Digital format... watch out for it !
They will be headlining their debut performance at "Homage to Darkness" on February 11th at The Prague in Thornbury (Australia) with INTERNAL HARVEST, ALTAR OF SINS and CATACOMBS.

Relapse Recordsp is extremely proud to announce the signing of Melbourne, Australia's doom-dwellers Inverloch. Featuring 2/4 of the legendary diSEMBOWELMENT, Inverloch (Matthew Skarajew – guitars, Paul Mazziotta – drums, Ben James – vocals, Mark Cullen – guitars, Tony Bryant – bass) pick right up where diSEMBOWELMENT left off close to two decades ago, composing crawling, lurching, plodding and downtuned dirges, that are sure to be some of the most powerful and beautiful pieces of crust/death/doom heard in years!
